Please add to your kingdome notes:

PROTIST KINGDOM – There are three types of Protists:

1- Plant-like: they are LIKE plants because they have chlorophyl and make photosynthesis. Ex: Kelp, Algae

2- Animal-like: They have to eat other organisms for food. Ex: Paramecium, Amoeba

3- Fungus- like: Absorb nutrients from other organisms and decaying matter.

*** Most famous Protist is PLASMODIUM- the one that causes Malaria.

PLANT  KINGDOM:

Plants are divided in two major groups:

1- Vascular plants= Have tubes.

Vascular plants can be seedless or with a seed. If they have seeds they are divided into:

                    a) Gymnosperm- Seed inside coat…Ex. Pine Trees – Seed inside pine cone

                    b) Angiosperm- Seed inside fruit/flower………….Ex. Rose, Apple Tree

2- Non vascular plants- no tubes no Xylem and Phloem

ANIMAL KINGDOM:

Divided into Vertebrates and Invertebrates.

Please know that insects are invertebrates and that there are more insects on earth than any other type of animal.

Insects have certain characteristics that help them survive:

1- They have  a waterprooof external skeleton which keeps them from loosing water.

2- They move and reproduce quickly

3- Most can fly

4- Their small size helps them survive- good adaptation which helped them evolve.

BUT insects can be our enemies:

1- Bloodsucking insects transmit human disease ….Example MALARIA

2- Insects damage our crops.
